Two words

It is amazing to me how God can pack so much truth and power into two words.

John 11:35 - "Jesus wept."

Sadly, many do not know what these two words reveal about their Creator.

* These two words reveal the most important characteristic about the nature of God in relationship to us - His love and compassion for us.
Psalm 36:7 - How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their   trust under the shadow of thy wings.

* These two words can be translated into two other words - "God cares."
1 Peter 5:6-7 - Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

* These two words convey the compassion of God toward us as seen in the words and actions of His Son Jesus Christ.
Matthew 9:36 - But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

* These two words reveal the supernatural love of God which motivated Him to provide the perfect, substitutionary sacrifice on the cross for us through His Son Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 Peter 2:24 - Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

* These two words draw me to him and stir within me the desire to love and obey Him (constrains me) and help me to overcome my own sinful nature's pull to ignore Him.
1 Corinthians 5:14-15 - For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

* These two words remind me that His love is so intimate that He chooses to dwell within my spirit and "pour out" his love within me.
Romans 5:5b - ...the love of God is shed abroad (poured out) in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

* These two words remind me that His compassion towards me is what initiated our relationship.
1 John 4:19 - We love him, because he first loved us.

* These two words make me think of the second shortest verse in the English Bible.
  1 Thessalonians 5:16 - Rejoice evermore.

* Because I understand and believe all that is packed into the shortest verse in the Bible, I can live my life according to the second shortest verse in the Bible!
John 15:11 - These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

I challenge you to memorize the shortest and second shortest verse in the Bible right now.

ONLY FOUR WORDS!

"Jesus wept."  "Rejoice evermore."

Then repeat them to yourself throughout every day of your life.

You'll be amazed what God can do in your life with four words!

Ephesians 3:14-19 - For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Consider the innumerable grains of sand which represent the good thoughts and actions of God toward you every day, and the fact that you don't deserve even one of them! My God is a merciful God!

Psalm 68:19 - Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

If we can begin and end each day with this in mind, then what we do in between the beginning and the end will be more meaningful.

"Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all his wondrous love and care,
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder I'll be there."
